Deus Ex Machina 1
This is Part 2 of a three issue series! Tune in this up coming Wednesday for the final page!
About 9 months ago, during initial planning of Missing Number, I (the sketch artist) sat down with a semi-pro comic book artist friend of mine to discuss the characters. Dispite his best efforts, my art level only grew slowly, to the point where I decided the best way to practice working on the comic was to actually work on the comic. So Missing Number was launched.
This is why the art so drastically changed during the first 10 issues. Everyone here at Missing Number was honing and building our art. And we always realize there’s another step to make!
Anyway, Allan (the comic book artist) kept interest in Missing Number, and has been a virtual fount of creative criticism along the way. When we approached him to do a out-of-character tounge-in-cheek guest strip, he gladly accepted, and work has been ongoing from there.
We here at Missing Number HQ are pleased to present part one of the Deus Ex Machina Guest Strip. To quote the drink dispensers from the Heart of Gold… Share and Enjoy!
Allan and I have worked on many art projects before… he’s a really fun guy. The last project we conspired upon was a design-ey art piece starring Nikola Tesla and Alexander Graham Bell, celebrating wireless communication through the years.
If you would like to see Allan’s full portfolio, just follow this link! NOTE! This site is not completely PG “Safe.”
Quench our thirst so we can make more comics! ($2.50 for a 6-pack, $5 for a 12)View Transcript
David bursts into the living room, leather jacket flapping in the turbulent air. “***Chris! Link!***” he shouts, “LOOK!”
Chris rolls his eyes as he looks over at David. Windwaker Link is just lounging about on the couch. “Did you stick a Pokeball in your mouth?” Chris asks. “***AGAIN!***”
“No, look!” says David. “Something happened… The art suddenly turned good. Look at me! I’m in Hi-Def!”
Chris finally actually LOOKS at David, and at the surroundings. “Egad!” he shouts. “You’re right!”
Windwaker Link pulls up his shirt and notices his muscular body. He approves.
Suddenly, a worried thought comes to Chris. “I hope our artist is OK!”
David can hardly agree more. “Yeah.”
A few minutes goes by as Chris, David, and Link notice new details in their environment. David shows off his costume. “It’s real leather!” he states, about his flight jacket. “And I have a shirt!”
Suddenly, there’s a KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! at the door.
David walks up and opens the door. “Hello..?” he asks.
Who is at the door? What is happening…?

[...] back when, and who helped us start developing our artistic talents, he also provided us a two part guest comic as well. Thanks, [...]
