How David Met Chris 4
(OK, we’re getting close to the point where we left off. For those who haven’t been following us all this time, we got to about issue 30-ish before everything crash and burned. The comics and notes that you see were up around a year ago. Well, we wanted everyone to catch up with our revival, not to mention giving us some time to get back in the groove of things, so we’ve been posting the old comics two per week. From this point on, however, we’ll be doing one per week, just like our normal updates. Please enjoy!)
Whoo boy.
So, you see, the sketch artist works at a big software company, and this week was big rollout week. Which meant pulling all nighters and drinking unsafe quantities of Monster Energy Drink to trick his cells into not dying before the project was done.
It’s launched, and it’s a success. Our sketch artist, however, is but a shell of the man he used to be. That is why this comic is so completely and horribly late.
His great, great, apologies.
The next update just might be late as well, as the project completely delayed all art from being produced. The best way to keep up with our comic is to subscribe to the RSS feed, which is updated immediately upon posting a comic!
Enough recrimination! This comic was really, really fun to do… we decided that because it was going to be late ANYWAY, we might as well kick it up a notch.
First off: New Color System! You wouldn’t believe just how little more work it takes to make the lines NOT BLACK between colors, and just how much it adds to the detail of the characters! I especially love the way Chris’ sash turned out.
Secondly: We’ve got a few hidden jokes in this comic; the Pokemon world is a mix of English and Japanese (at least in our comic), and so we tried to get authentic Japanese translations for the signage in the comic. Please tell us if we made a mistake. Not that we would change it. The Japanese have been killing English for long enough, we should be able to get away with OUR bad grammar! (Said with much humor and laughing!)
For example…

Third: We put SO much detail into this issue, we couldn’t drop the images to 256 colors for the first time EVAR in our series (yea… all 28 pages…). So, this is a 24 bit PNG! Let us know if you have browser issues with this!
Finally: A new character in our series: Autumn Cunningham, Chris’ 16 year old “little” sister. Say hi!
OK… it’s way too late, but we wanted to get this issue out as fast as we could. So, share and enjoy! And if you like our series, vote for it PLZKTHX!
Quench our thirst so we can make more comics! ($2.50 for a 6-pack, $5 for a 12)View Transcript
Chris is busy stuffing his pizza box into the trash bag. He interrupts David’s recital. “While we’re waiting for Dave to graduate…” he says, “Lemmie tell you where I came from…”
FLASHBACK!
Chris is standing on the overworld map for Final Fantasy I, near Corneria Castle. “I grew up in the Capital City of Corneria.” (In the flashback, Chris is looking at one of the buildings. “I’m as big as the building!” He thinks. “SHWEET!”)
“My father made a small fortune running a ‘Light Warrior’ equipment shop. I took a trip to Kanto to see the Kanto Region Pokemon League Finals.” In the background, we see Kanto Pokemon Stadium, packed for the event. The Jumbotron lists the next competitors: Damon (an Ice/Grass trainer) and Perl (an Electric/Psychic trainer).
“I stopped off at the Gift Shop to pick up a stuffed Pikachu… I couldn’t wait to see the look on my little sister’s face when I brought home the Pikachu for her… and that’s when I realized that the shuttle group had up and left without me.”
